My first hike of the year was to a rock formation called the Dillon Pinnacles. They were formed by nearby volcanoes about 25 to 35 million years ago. The rock was spit out and mixed with hot ash and formed the pinnacle. When you look close it looks like someone mixed rocks with cement and stacked it up. It it still cold here in the morning I drove my Jeep to the trail head about 15 miles but had to scrape ice off the windshield before I left. It was pretty cold going down the highway that morning.

Very cool. The pictures are great, as usual.
Sounds like fun!! I'm glad I didn't have to scrape the windows!
